Grading:

​    1st - 4th Quarter: 70% Formal Assessments,

    30% Informal Assessments

    Semester 1 Grade: Q1- 40%, Q2- 40%, 20%-            Midterm Grade

   

    Semester 2 Grade: Q3, Q4

    The Final Exam will be worth 20% of the overall      course grade.

    Overall Grade = 40% 1st Quarter + 40% 2nd            Quarter + 20% Final Exam.

What to Expect:

  • Every day there will be a series of activities completed in small stations, small group, and whole groups projects.  Project based learning will be a large part of class.  You will graded with your completed classwork with an exit ticket.

  • This is a literacy based class and topics will be explored through research, discussion, presentations, and projects.

  • You can expect a project and/or presentation for each unit.

  • There will minimal English permitted in this class.  90% of the class will be conducted in Spanish.  This means that I expect you to speak Spanish 90% of the time.

Honor Code:​​

  • Plagiarism, in any form, will not be tolerated.

  • If any part of a student's work can be found in any printed form, whether it be published or on the Internet, it will result in an automatic zero on the assignment and referral to an administrator and to Mrs. Kelso. 

  • Cheating is defined as students using someones else's work to complete his/her own. 

  • This also includes using the help of a Spanish speaking friend.  Use of online translators for completion of ANY assignment is also considered plagiarism.  The only acceptable translation aids for this class are class notes, a paper Spanish/English dictionary, or Word Reference.

Grading Policy:

  • Every student at Hopewell High School will be given an opportunity to master course objectives through a variety of strategies provided during class and outside of class.  Students' formal grades will be broken down by specific objectives. 

  • After each formal assessment, every students will be given the opportunity to improve their mastery of specific concepts and then demonstrate the improvement to improve their grade.  

  • If you are absent you must check Google Classroom to get your work for the day.  The pace of this class does not allow you to wait until I see you again!
